Day one in ATL

Visiting the King Center was a great experience. We toured Martin Luther King Jr’s home, where he was born and grew up, and also spent time viewing exhibits and a short movie clip in the Visitor’s Center. The tour and museum highlighted Mr. King’s strategy of non-violent protest, as well as how Mr. King intended to promote and protect the civil rights of all who are underrepresented and suppressed in society, regardless of race.

My favorite part of the day was dinner with the entire group, where we reflected on what we are thankful for in each of our lives. This brief exercise before a good meal helped everyone bond and get to know each other a little bit better.

It was a great start to the week. I’m looking forward to the rest of the trip.
